BOPP packing tape has become one of the most widely used packaging products in the industry due to its strong adhesion, durability, and wide range of applications. It is widely used in logistics transportation, warehouse packaging, industrial carton sealing, office use, and daily packaging operations.

As a tape manufacturer with over 20 years of production and export experience, Shenzhen World Packing Industrial Limited has been supplying various types and specifications of BOPP packing tape to customers worldwide. During communication with customers, we found that many buyers are highly interested in BOPP tape products, but they also encounter questions regarding adhesive types, thickness combinations, printing methods, noise reduction performance, and paper core specifications when selecting products.
To help customers better understand BOPP packing tape, we have summarized some of the most frequently asked questions below and provided unified answers to help buyers choose suitable products more efficiently according to different markets and applications.
1. What Are the Differences Between BOPP Tape Adhesives?
Currently, we mainly supply the following three adhesive types:

1) Water-Based Acrylic Adhesive
Water-based acrylic adhesive is the most commonly used and economical tape adhesive in the market.
✪ Features:
Cost-effective
Low odor
Suitable for most standard carton sealing applications
Stable long-term storage performance
✪ Applications:
E-commerce packaging
Daily warehouse use
Light and medium-duty carton sealing
2) Hot Melt Adhesive
Hot melt adhesive is a modified rubber adhesive containing natural rubber components and is also commonly known as rubber adhesive tape.

✪ Features:
Strong initial tack
Stable performance with excellent adhesion under extreme temperature conditions
Suitable for automatic carton sealing machines
Ideal for heavy-duty packaging
✪ Applications:
Cold storage environments
Heavy carton packaging
Industrial transportation
3) Solvent Adhesive
Solvent adhesive refers to solvent-based acrylic adhesive and is considered a high-performance adhesive type.

✪ Features:
Strong adhesion
Excellent overall performance
Good aging resistance
✪ Applications:
High-performance industrial packaging
2. What Is the Film-to-Glue Ratio of BOPP Tape?

The “film-to-glue ratio” refers to the thickness combination between the BOPP film layer and the adhesive coating layer.
A proper film-to-glue ratio plays an important role in:
☆Adhesion performance
☆Tensile strength
☆Service life
☆Product stability
Generally, the adhesive thickness should not exceed the film thickness, the adhesive layer is usually recommended to be 2–3 microns thinner than the film layer. Otherwise, it may lead to:
▷Incomplete adhesive drying
▷Glue overflow
▷Sticky surface issues
▷Glue stringing during use
However, if the adhesive coating is too thin, the tape adhesion performance may also decrease. In most cases, the adhesive coating thickness should remain above 10 microns.

3. What Printing Methods Are Used for Printed BOPP Tape?

The two most common printing methods in the market are:
✧Flexographic Printing
Features:
▪ Lower production cost
▪ Suitable for simple designs
▪ Commonly used for mass production
✧Offset Printing
We mainly use offset printing technology.
Advantages:
▪ Sharper printing quality
▪ Better color reproduction
▪ More delicate printing details
▪ More suitable for brand logos and premium printing requirements
Applications:
▪ Brand promotion
▪ OEM customization
▪ High-end packaging markets
4. What Are Low Noise Tape and No Noise Tape?
Both products are designed to reduce or eliminate the noise generated during tape unwinding.
1) Low Noise Tape
Low noise tape reduces friction noise during unwinding through optimized film surface treatment and production processes.
Features:
◦ Reduced operating noise
◦ Improved user experience
◦ Suitable for offices and quiet environments
2) No Noise Tape / Silent Tape
Silent tape is usually treated with a silicone coating on the surface, allowing the tape to unwind with almost no noticeable noise.
Features:
◦ Smoother unwinding
◦ Nearly silent operation
◦ Suitable for offices, supermarkets, hospitals, and other quiet workplaces
In addition:
Printed tape can also be made as no noise tape, water-based acrylic tape can also be produced in low-noise versions. Different functions can be freely combined according to customer requirements.
5. About Tape Paper Cores
1) Printed Paper Cores
Some customers require printed paper cores for OEM branding and brand promotion purposes.
Our policy:
Free paper core printing for full container orders
USD 100 printing charge for small orders
This is a one-time setup fee, the same printing design can be reused for future orders without additional charges.
Please note since printed paper cores require a minimum production quantity, the MOQ will vary depending on the tape size.

2) Paper Core Sizes
Currently, we support:
✓ 1 inch
✓ 1.5 inch
✓ 2 inch
✓ 3 inch
Among them, the 3-inch paper core is the most commonly used. Other sizes may require quantity limitations depending on the tape specifications.
6. Can Tape Sizes Be Customized?
To meet the needs of different markets and industries, we support customized tape sizes.

➜ Thickness Range: 28mic – 90mic
➜ Length Range: 1m – 1500m
➜ Common Widths: 36mm/ 45mm/ 48mm/ 50mm/ 72mm/ 75mm
Other sizes are also available upon request, subject to MOQ requirements based on actual specifications.
The above are some frequently asked questions and answers about BOPP packing tape. We hope this information can help customers better evaluate and select suitable products during the purchasing process. We will continue updating more product Q&A content in the future to help customers better understand different packaging materials and their applications.
